CBD Moxie is an online medicinal CBD (cannabidiol) brand for people in the U.S. The branding is meant to reflect the contemporary usage of this product; a new medical look for new medical merchandise. The varying levels of potency are referred to as phases or levels (“What’s your level of Moxie?”). Each phase is shown in large lettering on the packaging, mixed with a pattern developed from elements of the logo.

During brand development, I was notified that there was uncertainty about what products would remain on shelves, and what would not. For this reason, the package design needed to be inexpensive and flexible. I chose to use mylar bags where possible to account for quantity and cost.

CLIENT BRANDING & PACKAGING

CBD Moxie's plan was to produce products in three different levels of CBD for customers to figure out what level works for them. It was important when launching into market that the manufacture was able to change CBD dosages if they felt one product wasn't working as well. This is why when viewing the products you do not see any information on the front about dosages. This was printed on a batch sticker that would go on the back of each product.

While working with GoldLeaf as their Creative Director, my responsibilities spread across the design, production, and marketing  departments, while remotely managing client-facing communications as well. My day-to-day consisted of consulting with growing businesses on the development of their branding, while managing the in-house creative boutique of four designers. Their main industries of interest were cannabis, alcohol and healthcare. My experience with GoldLeaf broadened my creative directing skills and educated me on packaging & labeling compliance across the country within different industries.  This opportunity built a wealth of knowledge of the printing industry through in-depth experience on print capabilities and cost. Through my time there, I brought home numerous design awards and spread brand awareness on a national level.

BELUSHI FARM'S
"THE BLUES BROTHERS"

As a life long “Blues Brothers” fan, the opportunity to creative direct & collaborate in the visual development of their cannabis packaging was a dream. We were able to give their packaging a much-needed facelift, and bringing in conceptually stronger visuals. Taking into account main scenes from the movie and time period, we developed multiple pre-roll packages. The hope was for customers to see these as collectables related to the movie, and to inspire them to rewatch the films & find connections. From our “Cassette Case” to our “Directions for Getting the Band Back Together,” we delivered nostalgia & conviviality to their audience. Visual execution was done by designer Ryan Stepp.

KINSHIP CANNABIS
PACKAGING

Kinship cannabis came to us as a fast-growing business with only a logo as their branding. I was tasked with guiding the development of their brand within the packaging design world. This involved discussions around their ideal presentation goals and their positioning to their audience. I creative directed & developed a beautiful, luxurious line of various products, all finished with velvet varnish & embossed spot varnish. Visual execution was done by designer Caroline VanZoeren.
